JDM Engine Warranty Information

Note: This warranty is subject to modifications and changes. JDM Engine reserves the right to enforce these modifications without prior notice.

Warranty Coverage

  • Non-Performance Engines: Include a 90-day warranty starting from the date shown on the invoice.
  • Performance Engines (Turbocharged, Supercharged, KL31, VTEC, VVTI, VVL, MIVEC, etc.): Include a 30-day start-up warranty from the invoice date.
  • Rotary Engines: Not covered under warranty.
  • Performance Transmissions: Covered by a 30-day start-up warranty against defective internals only.
  • Non-Performance Transmissions: Covered by a 30-day unlimited mileage warranty against defective internals only.

What is Covered

The warranty covers only internal parts of the engine block, head(s), and transmission. It does not include external engine/transmission and related parts such as:

  • Clutches
  • Flywheels
  • Flex plates
  • Distributors
  • Coil packs
  • Ignitors
  • Alternators
  • A/C pumps
  • Power steering pumps
  • Oil/water pumps
  • Solenoids
  • Sensors
  • Valve covers
  • Oil pans
  • Manifolds
  • Fuel systems
  • Turbo/superchargers
  • Torque converters

In the event of a defective engine block, head, or transmission, JDM Engine will decide to either replace or fix the defective part.

Disclaimer

JDM Engine is not responsible for installation or improper use of any engine/transmission sold. Therefore, the following parts and circumstances are not covered by our warranty:

  • Installation: Professional installation by a certified mechanic is required. Failure to have a certified mechanic install the engine/transmission voids the warranty.
  • External Parts: All external parts of an engine such as axles, power steering, oil/water & a/c pumps, intake & exhaust manifolds, carburetors, distributors, coil packs, igniters, valve cover(s), oil pan, alternators, starters, emission control devices, thermostats, belts, hoses, clutches, flywheels, pulleys, wiring, computers (ECU), transmissions, turbo/supercharger units, fuel systems, gaskets, seals, sensors, solenoids, and any plastic trim pieces.
  • Body Parts: All body parts, interior parts, wheels, & suspension are sold “as is” and are not under warranty.
  • Racing/Red Lining: The loss of engine due to red lining or competitive racing voids the warranty.
  • Oil System Overhaul: Customer must perform an oil system overhaul. Loss of engine due to insufficient oil or lack of oil pressure will void the warranty.
  • Timing Overhaul: Customer must perform a timing overhaul. Damage due to improper installation will void the warranty.
  • Modifications: Swapping or removal of internal parts such as cylinder head(s), crank, rods, pistons, cam(s), gears & removal of the transmission casing will void the warranty.
  • Forced Induction: Loss caused by modification or forced induction (Nitrous/Alcohol Injection/Turbo/Supercharger & Aftermarket ECU upgrades) for which the engine was not designed will void the warranty.
  • Cooling System Overhaul: Loss caused by overheating unless directly resulting from internal part failure.
  • Tune-Ups and Adjustments: Any tune-ups and adjustments in belts, hoses, filters, emission control devices, spark plugs, etc., are not covered under warranty.
  • Normal Wear and Tear: Decrease in performance due to normal wear and tear unless an actual breakdown occurs.

Return/Refund Policy

  • No refunds or exchanges on non-defective engines.
  • No deposit refunds. Items must be picked up within 7 business days of leaving a deposit.
  • $35.00 service charge on all returned checks.
  • All refused/returned orders will incur a 25% restocking fee plus original and return freight charges back to our warehouse.

Shipping and Damages

JDM Engine is not responsible for damages occurring during shipment of any engine, transmission, or part. We are also not responsible for any expenses involved in applications of our products (shipping, labor, etc.).

General Engine Information

JDM Engine provides its customers with used imported Japanese engines with low mileage. External parts such as belts, hoses, seals, gaskets, and plastic covers might be damaged during shipping and can be replaced by the customer’s mechanic using parts from the designated vehicle. Cosmetic damage like scratches on valve covers does not affect performance. Replaceable parts such as sensors or air intake boxes may be missing if broken or damaged.

SMOG & Emissions

JDM Engine will NOT be held responsible for failure in emissions or smog tests. Please verify with your local authorities if the engine meets smog and emissions regulations in your state.

Defective Engine Claim Procedure

In case of a defective Head/Block/Transmission:

  1. Provide a detailed written description (work order) along with pictures of the defective part from a Certified Mechanic ONLY.
  2. Include a copy of the Mechanic’s certification and contact information.
  3. Send the required paperwork via fax to 1-201-955-9557 ATTN: Claims or email to [email protected].

JDM Engine will then decide whether to provide a refund for the damaged part(s) or request for the engine/transmission to be returned for replacement.
